Just like the title says.. that's how I am.. Ok so in my Honors Portfolio class, my teacher gave us an assignment to do if we had time. This assignment was a Martin Luther King Jr. Poster for the Dream @50 Art contest. Now she only said if we have time because it was maybe a week before Christmas break and this was a very large assignment. So I decided, why not, lets do it. So I worked for 2 class periods and maybe 2-3 hours at home and got it finished. I took my portfolio back to school and left it in the Fine Arts wing till class started. Well we had an assembly and it ran over into 1st period, so I missed my art class... During my lunch period I went down to the room and my portfolio was gone I walk down to the art room and there's my picture sitting on the chalkboard. My teacher said she was to excited to wait till I got down there. As much as I hate the writing, she wouldn't let me fix it. But anyway, I filled out a form and she said yours is up for consideration for this contest. Only 1 from each district could go to this contest. I was picked from my school district. I didn't find out till she showed me an email saying I had made it into the semi-finals for this contest!

So the semi-finals was held in Philadelphia. I walked in the cold from the train station (my mom wanted to take it and it was her birthday so I didn't complain) to the art museum. I didn't win anything but I did hear my parents say how proud of me they were. So today i was matting some artwork to display in another art show, ([link] and she asked me if I had gotten an email from the contest holders telling me that my artwork was still up in the Philadelphia art museum. My jaw dropped, but she wasn't finished. Not only in that museum, but 4 others and the Philadelphia Airport till September 2013! I wanted to cry/pass out/jump for joy. I've never considered myself a "true" artist, but how many can say that they have art work in major art museums. My brother called and told me he saw it last night.. I've never been so proud of myself, even though I still and always will hate the writing....
